2025: A Year for the Sports Record Books

By Neve Burton ‘27

The Mustangs have taken record-breaking to the next level this year with seventeen new school records. The track team has had a remarkable season with seniors Chase Judge ’25 and Tolu Adeyefa ’25 leading the team to an ISL gold for the girls and silver for the boys. In total, a total of nine school records were broken this Spring. Judge holds the record for the 100m dash and 200m dash, with times of 10.60 and 21.84, respectively. Adeyefa holds school records for the 100m with a time of 12.20 seconds and the 200m with a time of 25.31 seconds. The 4x100m girls’ relay record was shattered by Adeyefa, Ania Robinson ’26, Carly Khan ’26, and Grace O’Malley ’25 with an outstanding time of 49.98 seconds. Furthermore, Nicholas Chiasson ’25, Preston Tsang ’27, JP Hirth ’25 and Judge smashed the 4x100m men’s relay record with a collective time of 43.11 seconds. Milton did not excel just on the track, though, setting multiple records in field events. Sophomore jumper Jamir Crichlow ’27 soared to a triple jump school record of 45 feet and 5 inches. On the girls’ side, Ava Scannell ’26 blew past the long jump school record with a distance of 17 feet and 8 inches. Ultimately, the girls’ team went undefeated in the regular season this season for the first time in twenty years with a 10-0 record.

This past winter, the swim team had a similarly outstanding season with eight record-breaking times. JP Giglio ’25 swam to the top with his freestyle records for the 50m, 100m, and 200m. Giglio holds the record for 100 yard backstroke as well. Additionally, Alex Ning ’27 broke the 100 yard breaststroke record with a time of 59.15 seconds. Finally, Sara Callahan ’27 had an amazing season, breaking two records: the 50m freestyle and the 100 yard backstroke. Callahan notes that, “the positive environment that was fed by the coaches and captains…was definitely a huge part of everyone’s success.” The swim team’s attitude and hard work helped them excel on land and in the water.

The Girls’ Hockey team upset Nobles on the ice with a 2-1 win in overtime, achieving their first win against Milton’s rival since. McKenna Ruland ’27 explained that “it really came down to [who] wanted it more. As a team, we decided that was going to be us.” Adding that the unprecedented win is “the best memory I have at Milton,” Ruland emphasizes that the cohesion of the Girls Varsity Hockey team largely contributed to their sustained success and eventual win against Nobles. When discussing the eight seniors on the roster—Libby Cohen ’25, Jessie Ward ’25, Susannah Ward ’25, Laurie Deguire ’25, Maddie Bonavita ’25, Becca White ’25, Ashley Clarkson ’25 and Julia Guden ’25—Ruland described how it was special not only to “[win] for the first time in forever,” but also to win with the seniors who have “done a lot for the girls hockey program [at Milton].” The 2025 Milton-Nobles game was one for the books and will be a memory that many players, like Ruland, will carry throughout their hockey career and beyond.

Altogether, this year’s records have created an outstanding rise in school spirit and made great new additions to Dr. Callen’s trophy case.
