A Recap of Nobles Day 2025

By Molly O’Brien ‘26

On Saturday, November 8, Milton Academy’s fall athletic teams concluded their regular season with Nobles Day rivalries. Girls’ Field Hockey lost to a talented Nobles team, which placed second in the Independent School League (ISL). They fell short 2-1 in overtime, on a corner, with time expiring. Claire Kelly ‘28 scored the lone goal for the Mustangs. The team finished the season ranked 6th in the ISL, with a league record of 8-4, and an overall record of 11-7. Milton fell just short of the playoffs.

Milton’s Football dominated Nobles, 38-9. A strong defense kept Nobles scoreless after the 1st quarter, forcing four turnovers throughout the game. Quarterback Qur’an McNeill ‘26 ran for one touchdown late in the second quarter. He threw for two more touchdowns as time was winding down in the half, thanks to an interception from Dion Kitos ‘27. McNeill threw for one more touchdown pass in the third, to Zahir Mitchell ‘27. Kicker Jonah Selter ‘27 was perfect on the day, hitting all five of his attempted points after touchdown. He also nailed a forty-twoyard field goal in the third quarter, capitalizing on the fumble recovery from Aiden Guzi ‘27. One week later, on Saturday, November 15th, the Mustangs won the Kevin MacDonald Bowl, defeating the Brunswick School 35-14.

Unfortunately, Boys’ Soccer lost 0-2 to a tough Nobles Team, and Nobles was able to secure an undefeated ISL season. The game began with a dedication to captain Danny Stanger ‘26, who, because of injury, was unable to play a game all year. He started his first game of the season by receiving the kickoff pass. Rusty Nasser-Ghodsi ‘26 and Jordan Munsey ‘26 both made crucial defensive plays early on to keep the score at 0-0. Emmanuel Cheyo ‘27 slotted a close-range shot into the back of the net, but the goal was taken back due to an offside call. After numerous close changes, Milton eventually fell short. The Mustangs finished 2nd in the ISL. Afterwards, on Wednesday, November 12th, the team traveled to The Taft School in Watertown, Connecticut, for their first game of the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) tournament. The team made a bid for it, but were short by a hair, ending 3-2 in overtime.

Girls’ Soccer beat Nobles 2-1, staying undefeated at home. Isabella Cavallini-Hsu ‘27 and Princesse Tankam Tankam ‘29 both scored for Milton and were assisted by Sophie Crowley ‘26. Charlie Banbury ‘26 had an impressive day in net, stopping seven intense shots from our rival. Milton finished the year 2nd in the ISL as well, and had an impressive league record of 8-2-2, behind a 10-0-2 BBN team. The Mustangs entered the NEPSAC Class A tournament as the fifth seed. They traveled to the 4th-seeded Westminster School in Simsbury, Connecticut, on Wednesday, November 12, but fell short 1-0 on a long shot in overtime.

Finally, Volleyball delivered a dominant 3-0 win over Nobles. They comfortably won the first two sets with a score of 25-15 and 25-19, and then closed out the match in a tighter set, winning 25-22. This win was a highlight of the season for the Mustangs, who amassed an ISL record of 9-4, enough to finish third place in the league.
